Toulouse Cathedral

Often referred to as the “unfinished cathedral”, the Cathedral of Saint Etienne has deep historical roots going back to the 3rd century. Unusual and eclectic, the edifice blends different architectural styles as a result of an ongoing period of construction and transformations spanning the 13th to the 16th century. Enter the cathedral’s wide “Raymondine” nave built in a southern Gothic style, before encountering the slender and luminous choir, built in a northern Gothic style to rival the great European cathedrals. Sublime rays of light filter through the stained glass windows into this exceptional sanctuary, featuring some of the oldest stained glass in Toulouse from the late 13th century, as well beautiful tapestries from the 16th to 18th centuries.
