Lyon Museum of Fine Arts

Housed in a former 17th-century abbey, Lyon’s Musée des Beaux-Arts is home to the largest collection of fine arts outside of Paris. Tracing the history of art from the ancient Egyptians to the present day, this magnificent collection includes antiques, sculptures, paintings, and art objects with highlights including work by Rubens, Matisse, Monet, Rembrandt, and Picasso. The highly informative free audio guides bring to life the collection of over 1,300 sculptures displayed throughout the museum’s 70 rooms. Admire the life-like statues in the chapel before enjoying afternoon tea on the picturesque terrace overlooking the sculpture garden.
