Glimpses of an illustrious past

Unique architectural features, both opulent and subtle, are everywhere you look, a testament to the building’s distinctive history. In the grand main entrance, the traditional Spanish colonial style and 18th-century decorative elements are sensitively preserved, while the verdant central courtyard features beautiful arched cloisters and the original Convent well.

Gabriel García Márquez

In 1949, Gabriel García Márquez visited the former convent as a reporter, covering the story of a crypt discovered during an excavation of the site. This later inspired him to write Of Love and Other Demons, published in 1994.
