Saigon Opera House

The flamboyant Saigon Opera House was completed in 1900 – the same year as the Petit Palais in Paris to which it bears a close resemblance. Designed by French architect Eugène Ferret, it boasts granite floors, crystal chandeliers and stone sculptures. The materials for these features were imported from France. Nowadays, it’s an important cultural venue, with 500 plush velvet seats in an elegant oval auditorium. Home to the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera, it also hosts concerts, plays and Vietnamese traditional dance.
