With addresses in some of the world’s most inspiring capitals, our 2026 calendar highlights the cultural moments — festivals, art fairs and timeless celebrations — that shape the year around our Sofitel hotels. An invitation to travel where French elegance meets local soul.

JANUARY
Paris, France
Haute Couture Week
The year opens with the most exclusive ritual in fashion. For five days, the great couture houses unveil their spring-summer collections in the private mansions, ateliers and salons of the 8th arrondissement. Dior, Chanel or Schaparelli? Immerse yourself in a show at one of these fashion powerhouses by day, then return to Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg, steps from Place de la Concorde and the Faubourg Saint-Honoré, for a nightcap at the glamorous Bar du Faubourg.
Elsewhere: Art Basel Hong Kong already prepares its March edition; the Jaipur Literature Festival gathers the freest voices of the English-speaking world; and at Sundance, in Utah, American independent filmmakers premiere the films that will shape the year.

FEBRUARY
Sydney, Australia
Sydney Mardi Gras
For two weeks, Sydney celebrates diversity with one of the world’s largest LGBTQ+ festivals, culminating in the night-time parade along Oxford Street: 12,500 participants, 200 floats and a million spectators. With its panoramic harbour terrace and outdoor pool overlooking the city, Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour offers some of the finest views of the closing fireworks, a short walk from the parade route.
Elsewhere: Carnival in Rio reaches its peak in Copacabana; Lunar New Year — the Year of the Horse — lights up Singapore, Seoul and Bangkok; and New York Fashion Week launches the autumn-winter collection season.
3 / 12
MARCH
Mexico City, Mexico
Zona Maco
Latin America’s most important contemporary art fair draws gallerists, collectors and artists from across the world to Centro Citibanamex every March. It is also the moment when Mexico City reveals its full cultural depth: the Jumex and Soumaya museums, the ateliers of Roma Norte, the jacaranda trees in full bloom. Sofitel Mexico City Reforma — with the city’s highest saltwater pool and the Cityzen rooftop bar on the 38th floor — places guests at the heart of Reforma, equidistant from the historic centre and Polanco.
Elsewhere: Art Basel Hong Kong unites the Asian art scene; Holi colours the streets of Jaipur and Mathura; and the Hong Kong International Film Festival rolls out its red carpet.

APRIL
Bangkok, Thailand
Songkran
The Thai New Year turns Bangkok into one vast water festival for three days. Beyond the joyful battles of Khao San Road, Songkran is also a sacred ritual: scented water is poured over Buddha statues and the hands of elders, as a symbol of purification. Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, in the heart of the capital’s most dynamic district, offers an air-conditioned sanctuary after the festivities, with its signature spa and acclaimed restaurants.
Elsewhere: Salone del Mobile in Milan sets the tone for global design; cherry blossoms reach their peak in Kyoto and Tokyo; and Coachella opens the Californian festival season.

MAY
London, United Kingdom
Chelsea Flower Show
For five days in May, the Royal Hospital Chelsea hosts the world’s most prestigious horticultural event, where landscape designers and amateur gardeners mingle with members of the royal family and London society. Just steps away, in a Grade II listed building at the heart of the West End, Sofitel London St James blends British tradition with French art de vivre. Its Michelin-starred Wild Honey St James restaurant and celebrated afternoon tea make it a natural pause between two garden visits.
Elsewhere: The Cannes Film Festival takes over the Croisette; the Venice Biennale unfolds its national pavilions in the Giardini; and Photo London moves from Somerset House to Olympia.

JUNE
Rome, Italy
Summer cultural festival in Rome
When summer settles over the Eternal City, Rome transforms itself: open-air concerts in the Villa Borghese gardens, screenings at the Forum, evening exhibitions at the Baths of Caracalla. Estate Romana is a summer-long cultural festival celebrated across the city, and Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese — a 19th-century palazzo restored by Jean-Philippe Nuel — holds its finest address. From the Settimo rooftop, guests gaze over Saint Peter’s Basilica through the umbrella pines, Negroni in hand.
Elsewhere: The Taormina Film Festival screens its films in the ancient Greek theatre; Art Basel in Basel gathers the international art world; and Roland-Garros crowns its champions on the Parisian clay.
7 / 12
JULY
Bali, Indonesia
Bali Arts Festival
For an entire month, Denpasar becomes the stage of the largest festival of traditional Balinese arts: Legong and Kecak dances, gamelan performances, ceremonial processions, sacred crafts. In the south of the island, away from the crowds, Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort unfolds its tropical gardens, 413 rooms and twelve hectares facing the Indian Ocean. The perfect counterpoint to the cultural intensity inland: the contemplative calm of white-sand beaches.
Elsewhere: The Avignon Festival brings the City of the Popes alive; the FIFA World Cup 2026 unfolds across the United States, Canada and Mexico; and the Montreux Jazz Festival welcomes legends to the shores of Lake Geneva.
8 / 12
AUGUST
Singapore
Singapore Night Festival
Over two weekends in August, the Bras Basah-Bugis district becomes a canvas of light installations, monumental projections and open-air performances. As Asia’s gastronomic capital, Singapore also takes the opportunity of summer to multiply guest chefs and Michelin-starred pop-ups. Sofitel Singapore City Centre, in the Tanjong Pagar district, offers from its upper floors a sweeping view over Marina Bay and the creative pulse of the city-state.
Elsewhere: The Edinburgh Fringe transforms the Scottish capital into the world’s largest arts gathering; Notting Hill Carnival fills London with Caribbean rhythms; and the Venice Film Festival readies its red carpet.
9 / 12
SEPTEMBER
Seoul, South Korea
Frieze Seoul & Art Week
Since 2022, Frieze Seoul has turned the Korean capital into a major new node of the global art market, alongside the long-established Kiaf (Korea International Art Fair). Galleries, ateliers and museums (Leeum, Amorepacific) open their doors, and K-design takes centre stage. On the shores of Seokchon Lake, Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel & Serviced Residences offers a Parisian interlude, with suites overlooking Lotte World Tower, the Sofitel Spa on the 16th floor, and a rooftop bar lit at dusk.
Elsewhere: The Venice Film Festival unfolds its stars at the Lido; Oktoberfest prepares to open in Munich; and Paris Fashion Week closes the spring-summer season.
10 / 12
OCTOBER
Munich, Germany
Oktoberfest
For sixteen days, the Theresienwiese hosts the world’s largest folk festival: six million visitors, fourteen great tents, and a singular sense of Bavarian conviviality. But Munich in October is also a European art capital in full bloom — the Lenbachhaus, the Pinakothek der Moderne, BMW Welt. Sofitel Munich Bayerpost, a former royal post office in neo-Renaissance style, captures both faces of the city: historical grandeur and contemporary refinement, steps from the Hauptbahnhof.
Elsewhere: Frieze London turns Regent’s Park into the world capital of contemporary art; the Tokyo International Film Festival opens the Asian cinema season; and the Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival enlivens Paris.
11 / 12
NOVEMBER
New York, United States
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
On the fourth Thursday of November, some three million spectators line the avenues of Manhattan to watch the most beloved parade in America: giant balloons, marching bands and elaborate floats rolling from the Upper West Side down to Herald Square. It is also the moment New York fully embraces the festive season — the windows of the grand stores light up, Central Park takes on its winter poetry. Sofitel New York, steps from Fifth Avenue and Bryant Park, offers a French sanctuary at the heart of it all: an ideal base for those who wish to experience the city at its most warmly theatrical.
Elsewhere: Paris Photo takes over the Grand Palais; the Singapore Writers Festival convenes Asia’s literary voices; and Día de los Muertos colours Mexico with its cempasúchil marigolds.

DECEMBER
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
New Year on the Persian Gulf
Dubai stages one of the world’s most spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks displays, lit simultaneously across the Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab. Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk — a pyramid-shaped tower with 594 rooms in the heart of Wafi — offers a singular vantage point on the celebrations from its upper floors and the Soleil Pool & Lounge rooftop. The season is also ideal for Dubai Design Week, and for the opening of the racing season at Meydan.
Elsewhere: Funchal and Rio de Janeiro vie for the most dazzling fireworks; Vienna opens its New Year concert season; and Tokyo observes Ōmisoka, the most contemplative night of the Japanese year.
