Art & Design Paris, France
Established by LVMH in 2006, the Louis Vuitton Foundation is a spectacular Parisian landmark which promotes culture and artistic creativity. Dedicated to modern art, the museum opened at the end of 2014 and houses eleven galleries showcasing permanent collections and temporary exhibitions and contributions from artists such as Basquiat, Richard Prince, Gilbert & George, Annette Messager and Giacometti. Attached to the Jardin d'Acclimatation in the verdant Bois de Boulogne, the building was designed by architect Frank Gehry, and fits in perfectly with its setting: mirror effects are created by twelve glass sails that envelop the “iceberg”, the main body of the building that floats on water. Each sail, supported by a clever construction of steel and wood beams and 3,600 panes of glass, contributes to this magnificent architectural feat.
