Steps from Opéra Garnier, Scribe & Cie is now France's first Dilmah tea house: a Paris tea room and boutique inside Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra.

For more than 60 years, Dilmah, a family-owned Sri Lankan tea company, has championed authenticity, tradition and craftsmanship in Ceylon tea.

To mark the partnership, the Scribe & Cie menu has been reimagined around tea, with new pairings and delicate flavors. A unique cultural link between Sri Lankan tea heritage and the French art de vivre.

A historic Paris address, now France's first Dilmah tea room

In 1871, Louis Vuitton opened his Paris boutique at No. 1 rue Scribe, where Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra stands. Today the scent of Dilmah Ceylon tea fills the address, a few steps from the gilded Opéra Garnier.

“Paris honors craftsmanship and elegance,” says Dilhan C. Fernando of Dilmah. “It was only natural, therefore, to open our first Tea House there, at Sofitel Le Scribe."

Cooked with tea, paired with tea

Afternoon tea here comes Paris style: a slice of flan or cake from the pastry counter with a cup of Dilmah tea.

At lunch, tea steps into the kitchen, where it smokes, marinates and perfumes fish, meat and vegetable dishes with its aromatic notes.

For a tea pairing, match each dish with a Dilmah blend, from the delicate Craighead Silver Tip white tea to the robust Ceylon Heritage Breakfast.
