Entirely made of fine sand, under clement skies, the totally French holiday resort is a seaside enchantress imbued with wonderful ocean scents. You can have a go at surfing here, while a group of paddle-boarders look as if they are flying, quite unshakably.

On the beach, some sand yachts swell huge, immaculate sails while a canoe trip is getting ready at the water's edge. A little further up, on the coast road that follows the sea front, Trouvillaises, the typical bikes of Trouville-sur-Mer, make their way peacefully around.

In contrast to its prestigious sisters, Dinard and Deauville, Trouville-sur-Mer uncovers an authentic Normandy, embodied by its beach, but above all by its fishing port. Once modest in size, today the port is a real hive of maritime activity, offering the rambler a spectacle that's as traditional as it's unusual: the return of the fishing boats. Mackerel, scallops, sea bass and sole then fill up the fishmongers' stalls while a ballet of seagulls fill the sky above Trouville-sur-Mer. An iconoclastic setting that can, of course, be enjoyed over a platter of freshly caught oysters and seafood. Since Trouville and all of Lower Normandy are gourmet regions, it would be a shame to deprive your taste buds of a feast for the senses and turn down the many local specialties…
