If you take the road to Yangon you'll see another side of Burma, resulting from a veritable melting-pot of East and West. You really have to have seen the Shwedagon Pagoda to truly understand the extent of Burmese splendor. It is not only the most beautiful pagoda in the world, but above all else it is a celebration of spirituality and humanism, a stunning eulogy to refinement, whose features have something hypnotic about them. The city of Naypyidaw, the new capital of Burma, is in stark contrast with the rest of the country, thanks to its size and its deserted streets. A replica of Shwedagon Pagoda, the Uppatasanti pagoda also known as the "Peace Pagoda", has an elegance reflecting a country undergoing a complete resurgence: excessive. We find this grandeur in its natural equivalent, along the Burmese shores of the Bay of Bengal and by enjoying its long, beautiful, white sand, palm-fringed beaches.
