Shopping Beijing, China
Hutongs are narrow rows of alleys and passageways and one of the most beautiful memories of pretty Old Beijing. They house Siheyuan, traditional homes now meticulously renovated. These well-preserved enclaves are studded around the Chinese capital and offer a striking contrast with the surrounding forest of skyscrapers. All the more so as these hutongs are now home to a whole host of attractive shops, cafés and restaurants. You can also take part in a range of activities (pottery, cooking or Chinese medicine lessons, bicycle tours etc.) to immerse yourself in the culture of ancient Beijing.
