Art & Design Beijing, China
The date on which the two wings of the National Museum of China opened, 1 October 1959, is a symbolic one: it was the tenth anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China. Since then, and with the addition of an extension in 2010, the museum now offers a fascinating insight into the history of China. Forty galleries, covering a total surface area of 192,000m2, are home to two major exhibitions: “Ancient China” and “The Road of Rejuvenation”, which include works of art and historical documents from the archives. The museum’s particularly impressive collections will immerse you into a fascinating world. There are also plenty of great temporary exhibitions to choose from.
