Shopping Marrakech, Morocco
Marrakech's famous souks, or traditional markets, really are a must-visit shopping destination in the heart of the old town. A maze of all sorts of different stalls, the souks in the Medina are home to more than 2,500 artisans and are organised by skill: at the Souk Smata, you’ll find slippers; the Souk Dhabia focuses on jewellery, while the Souk Rabia concentrates on rugs. Take the time to explore the Souk Semmarine, dedicated to the traditional crafts of the southern Berber tribes. Also worth a visit is the Rue du Mouassine, packed with fabric sellers and herbalist shops, where the colors of the leather match those of the ceramics.
