Art & Design Beijing, China
Since the beginning of the 21st century, Chaoyang has been popular with Beijing’s fashionable artists. A great place to come to find out about the arts scene that has made an international name for itself: 798 Art Zone. This sprawling former military factory, covering 640 hectares, has been transformed into a leading cultural destination. In its galleries, works of art by Ai Wei Wei, who is no longer exhibited, have rubbed shoulders with workshops run by his fellow citizens, Hóng Huǎng and Lǐ Zōngshèng, who are based here. In the DAD (Dashanzi Art District), you can also find fashion and design shops that contribute to the arty vibe of this unusual place.
